"Throughout my lifetime in Houston, including my six years working as a defense attorney for some of the largest insurance companies, healthcare providers, and corporations in the world, I have developed the knowledge, skills and work ethic necessary to affirmatively fulfill my lifetime career goal of working as an advocate for injured people, rather than being an advocate for wealthy, faceless corporations and insurance companies."
Jim Edwards is a native Houstonian whose heart has and will always reside in this great city. He attended Louisiana State University (Geaux Tigers!) before graduating from the University of Houston Law Center in 2011. For the next two and a half years, Jim worked for a boutique medical malpractice defense firm in the Houston area where he defended doctors and hospitals that were accused of injuring patients through their careless actions or inactions.
With his eyes squarely set on eventually representing injured individuals rather than companies and corporations, Jim accepted a position at one of the most respected civil insurance defense firms in San Antonio, Texas. He spent the next three years defending a broad variety of personal injury cases including those that fall into the following categories: commercial vehicle collisions, premises liability incidents, products liability incidents, construction defects, and more.
Jim loves being in the courtroom and he greatly enjoys the satisfaction that comes from helping clients achieve their desired results - with or without the need for filing a lawsuit. He tries everyday to personify the "happy warrior" concept of embracing the adversarial nature of the job, while still maintaining an overall positive outlook on the legal profession in general and, more specifically, on each individual claim or lawsuit.
That said, the most important thing to Jim is making sure that our clients always feel that everyone at the McCarthy Law Group treats them with a sense of respect and dignity in common concern for their individual circumstances, whatever they may be.
Jim is not married and has no children but he does share a home with his English Bulldog, Abita.
